Hi everyone! Today is my turn at Pam's blog The Bug Bytes. My project is a CASE from a card I saw at a paper specialty store. When I saw that they wanted $6 for it I laughed out loud! The card was a printed skeleton with a birthday hat and horn and the caption read "Am I late?" The inside said "happy belated birthday". Here is my version of the $6 card. Lookie:

I used PPDU for the skeleton, FF for the label (I trimmed off the loops after I broke one with my twine) and Simply Charmed for the party hat. Cuttlebugged the background, stickled and glossy accented a few places and this card was done. Here's hoping I don't have to use this card too soon. That would mean that I forgot a birthday!

Hi everyone! Long time no post, I know. Let me tell you, life has been crazy for me. To say that I needed to craft for some therapy is understated. You will find out why shortly.

Pam has been kind enough to let me post today on her blog after I missed my DT project date on Wednesday.

My project for you today is a piece of a bigger project. My great Aunt Marie passed away on Mother's Day. She was very much a grandmother figure to me and I will miss her greatly. To honor her memory I'm going to make a shadow box. Aunt Marie always loved whatever I made for her, so I feel that making a project to honor her legacy is something that she would approve of.

Aunt Marie was a teacher for 41 years and touched a lot of lives. She stayed active in the community as long as she could. She always had a kind word for everyone. Her generosity knew no bounds.

My post today is showcasing a part of the shadow box project. I made a custom monogrammed accent piece. Here is what I came up with:

My Aunt had a lot of monogrammed items and I knew that having an "M" would be fitting. Her favorite color was red and her favorite flowers were red roses. As she was the epitome of classy, I chose a simple cream and black theme with red as an accent. The background paper of text was chosen to because she loved to read and it made me think of her legacy as a teacher.

This is but a piece of my project. Please check back soon for the finished project. I intend to make it a labor of love and honor for my dear Aunt Marie.

Quick and Easy with the Gypsy

Hi everyone! Today I am going share with you a secret to my success as a card mass producer. Quick and Easy are the key words here. I start with a 12x12 piece of pattern paper and cut it into nine 4x4 squares. I decide on what my images are going to be and go from there. Using my trusty Gypsy and multiple cuts I am able to whip out 9 cards in a relatively short time. Here are two examples of the same system but orientated differently.

See how cute and easy this easy? This is a great way to use up some of you pattern paper and get lots of cards made. I make Cards for Soldiers with the ladies on the Cricut messageboard and this is what I do to get lots of cards made quickly. So take my idea and make it your own. Hi everyone! We were asked to make a project featuring our favorite season. Mine has always been Spring. I just love the flowers and leaves coming to life. It's also the season when my favorite flowers bloom, tulips! As a mail carrier, I work outside in every season and every kind of weather. So when Spring comes I'm very ready for it as it means nicer weather and no more ice and snow for a while. :)

Here is my project dedicated to my favorite season, Spring. Lookie:

I know, totally cute right? I used just one cartridge for this project, April Showers. This is an adorable little cartridge that I can see getting a lot of use out of in the future. Do you like how I used the umbrella top as the sun? I thought that was pretty clever, myself. :) Another detail I'm proud of, there are 10 different pattern papers on this 8x8 panel. Go me!

Here is my Love project. Lookie:

My Valentine this year will be one of my best friends. She is one of the most awesome women I've ever known and I'm proud to call her a friend.

For my card I, of course, used my Gypsy to cut out my Hello Kitty and layers. I then used a fine tipped glue pen and wrote "love" on the heart and sprinkled a very fine grain red glitter on the glue. I then covered the whole image with dimensional glue. I don't know that this card can be any cuter. :)

Fantabulous Cricut-For a Cause

Hi everyone! This week at Fantabulous Cricut we were asked to make a project for a cause that we support. One that has always been near and dear to me is Cards For Soldiers. On the Cricut messageboard is a group of crafters who make greeting cards and send them over seas to different military units. We handmake the front of the cards and leave the inside blank. Pop them into envelopes and you are finished. Now a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan has a beautiful piece of art to send home to their loved ones.

There are challenges and themes posted all of the time on the CFS messageboard to keep you motivated and give you a place to start. Everyone is welcome join. You can make 10 cards or 100, it's really up to you. The point is to have fun and not stress over how many you can get done in two or three weeks. The soldiers love our work and we get lots of thank you letters telling us how the soldiers fight over our cards and really look forward to our boxes.

As a card contributor you are not required to send your cards overseas, you mail your cards to your designated shipper, which is determined by time zone. Of course you are welcome to send your shipper a donation to help with the cost of postage but that is an expense that they have taken on. All you are needed to do is make beautiful cards. There a are a few rules to follow and there is a FAQ thread on the CFS forum.

One trick to making lots of cards is to mass produce them. Today's card is just one of the 18 that I whipped up in one afternoon. All I did was cut a 12x12 piece of pattern paper into 4x4 squares (you get 9 pieces out of one piece of paper), matted the paper with another piece of cardstock and made my focal image. Pretty darn easy. Lookie:

As always I used my trusty Gypsy to help cut the images using my new Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes cartridge and not waste any paper. After that it was time to assemble. I think they came out pretty darn cute! I'm sure our troops will like them. Until next time, Craft On!

FCCB Challenge-Sweet Shop

Hi everyone!!! I just loved this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut - being challenged to use a "sweet" image was not one that I had to struggle with. In fact, I had too many choices! But once I remembered all of the sweet and cute images on Smiley Cards, I knew that was the way I was going to go. Here is my final card. Lookie:

This card was just so much fun to put together. In fact, it took me longer to apply all of the stickles and decorations than it did to cut out and assemble the card. That's what I love about crafting. It's as easy or as detailed as you want it to be. Don't you just love it?

FCCB Challenge-Snowy Delight

Good morning everyone! This week at Fantabulous Cricut we were asked to make a project featuring snowflakes or snow. Since it's been so cold lately, well, this wasn't too hard of a project to whip up. Lookie:

Since I just received my xmas presents that I bought for myself (several cartridges that I got on sale for crazy cheap) I decided to use one of my newest cartridges, Simply Charmed.

I love those penguins! They cut out easily and were a snap to piece together. For the igloo I used Create a Critter and the snowflakes were cut with Gypsy Wanderings.

I hope I gave you some inspiration for a Snowy Delight. Until next time, keep on crafting!

For my project I made a wall hanging. With my trusty Gypsy and a 12x24 mat I was able to make the project fairly quickly. Lookie:

First I chose a banner and horn from Happily Ever After. Next, I welded together the phrase using Ashlyn's Alphabet for ease of cutting and placement. I wanted the banner to look almost like a crest so I added a layered snowflake from Joys of the Season.

I wanted this piece to be stable and long lasting so I cut the base piece out of chipboard and cardstock. I used two colors of cardstock for this project, white and green. Everything that was cut in white I heat embossed with sparkly gold embossing powder, except for the second snowflake layer I embossed with sparkly silver. Two coats for every piece. This really shines in real life let me tell you!

Some curling ribbon in holiday colors and silver Glimmer Mist finished off my project and it was ready for the door.

Fantabulous Cricut-Gifts Galore!

Hi everyone! Our challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut was to create a handmade gift or gift package. Again, my mojo has gone into hiding and I struggled for a bit to come up with an idea. But, I finally had a brainwave used the open circle card cut from Smiley Cards as a photo magnet! Brilliant if I do say so myself! Lookie:

Since I used my Gypsy I don't remember what size I cut these out at but I can look it up and post that information later. By sheer good luck, I sized these cards perfectly to fit slightly larger than my Giga (purple) circle punch. Add some glue and lots of glitter, plunk magnets on the back and you're finished! I'm toying with the idea of adding a dimensional glaze on top of the whole thing. What do you all think? Would it be too much?

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge-Green and a Circle

Hi everyone! It seems I've misplaced my mojo, what with life being so crazy these past months. I just never seem to have enough time to do what I really want. As we all know, creativity is a muscle that needs to be used. If you let it go dormant, it's really hard to get into shape again. So I took a bit of a shortcut and made an easy card. So easy that all I had to do was pick out the paper and cardstock. I made the sample project in Base Camp. It doesn't get much easier than that! What do you think? Lookie:

Fantabulous Halloween

Hi everyone! This week's challenge for Fantabulous Cricut is Halloween. Which is one of my favorite holidays! So, I have a quick and cute Halloween card for you today. I made this card in about 20 minutes. Including designing it on my Gypsy and searching for a "Happy Halloween" cut in my cartridges. So when I say it's quick, I mean it. :) Lookie:

Cute, cute right? I acquired Pumpkin Carving a couple of weeks ago at the scrapbook convention and have been itching to get my Cricut and Gypsy fired up! I can see lots of cute Halloween decorations in my future with this cartridge. I think I'm in love. Lol. Anywhoo, here are a few details for those whom are interested. I first chose the witch cut and sized it to 4.65. I then added 3 circles, sized one to be the background layer and then welded the other two to make a circle card. After that it was a snap to turn this in to an easel card. See what I mean? Easy peasy lemon squeezey. Thanks for stopping by!

Joy Wall Hanging

Hi everyone! Just got back from my FAB weekend at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Kansas City and boy am I inspired! I took lots of classes and met new and old friends. What more can a girl ask for?

For this weeks Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday, our assignment was to create something that goes on the wall. Since I was so inspired from the convention, I went through my stash and found this wall plaque that I've had for at least a year. Covered it with cardstock, stamped some snowflakes and then glittered it to within an inch of it's life! What do you think? Lookie:

Pretty no? I really enjoyed making the faux icicles out of glue and loose glitter. That was fun! The font from Storybook really worked well and the felt snowflakes pull it all together. Now for Halloween and Thanksgiving to pass so I can hang up my sweet project!

National Sewing Day with Fantabulous Cricut

Hi friends! Long time no blog, I know I know. I'm getting used to working multiple post offices and hopefully am going to find more time to craft. Pinkie swear! It's been killing me to be away from my Gypsy for so long! I did have time to make a Fantabulous Cricut project for you though! Our challenge was to use stitching in some form on a project. That is a fairly easy assignment since I love to faux stitch on my cards and projects. I don't have a sewing machine but I probably don't need one because I'm sure I would love to use on my projects. I like to use a piece of magic mesh to make stitches quite a bit. For this project I just freehanded it. Lookie:

This is a very easy card to make. I used the place setting feature on Christmas Cheer for the JOY panel and then used a layer from Just Because Cards for the base. I sized the Joy panel to fit the base and voila! Easy peasy holiday card! This is such a simply card that you can easily mass produce them yourself. Thanks for stopping by!

Fantabulous Cricut-Back to School!

Hello everyone! Nope, I haven't fallen off the of the planet. Just working insane hours and trying to stay on top of my mail van's mechanical problems. Which keep growing every day. Le Sigh. But, I have a card for you. I haven't crafted in almost a month and I was RUSTY! This card was my attempt to get my mojo back after I spent the morning/afternoon fixing my mail van. Please gentle with me. ;) This weeks theme at Fantabulous Cricut was Back to School-Numbers and Letters. Lookie what I made:

What an adorable elephant! This card could be adapted for boy or girl, just change the colors. Sweet, simple and to the point. Sometimes that's all you need. :) I'm off to dreamland as I should have been in bed an hour and 45 minutes ago! Ack!

FCCB Challenge-The Great Outdoors

Hi friends! This week at Fantabulous Cricut the challenge is "the great outdoors". Well, to be honest, I wasn't very inspired by this theme at first. I kept racking my brain for something that I could do and a cut I could use. I was going through some old cards the other day and ran across my Beginner and Advanced Brayering cards from my Michelle Zindorf class that I took last August. Ah hah! Inspiration struck and I had an idea! Lookie:

I'm just so tickled with my project. Even more so since it was my first and only brayered background I made. I usually have to try 3 or 4 times before I get the effect I want. I did have one hiccup in this project. I mis-measured the card base and wasn't able to have a mat around the whole panel. Instead of cutting a new card base I just went with the flow and used what I had. My mom said it kind of looks like you are looking through a window. Yeah, I meant to do that! ;)

Hi everyone! Sorry to be MIA for a bit there. For those of you that do not know what I do for a living, I'm a mail carrier for the post office. I'm actually a substitute mail carrier. As a sub, I'm only guaranteed one a day week to work. Well, a few weeks ago I started loaning myself out to another office in another city and have been working like a mad dog ever since! I mean working 5 or 6 days a week! Which is a lot when you are used to having a lot of time on your hands to craft and play.

Not only have I been working in a new office but I have been learning a lot of routes. I know 4 of 8 routes in the new office and 5 of 6 in my old office. So I know 9 of 14 routes! Which is a lot when you consider that each route has 400 to 700 boxes/residences each and are at least 30 miles long or more. It's a lot to assimilate and with this heat I've been wiped out at the end of the day. That and my personally owned mail van has been acting up a lot I've had other things to worry about and not been feeling very crafty. I did learn something new last week, I learned how to do a tune up on my mail van (thanks bro!). See, here's the proof:

So there's my excuse. I hope that as I learn my new routes and become comfortable on them that I will have more time and energy to craft. Here's to waiting for fall and some relief from the heat!

Kricut Krazy-Graphically Speaking

Hi everyone! I have been lucky enough to be a guest designer for Kricut Krazy. Tangee features the projects in the cricut handbooks. I have volunteered to do a few for her and this is my first one. I chose Graphically Speaking as I love this cart but don't pull it out that often. This was a quick project and I only altered the card just a bit from the directions. Lookie:

For some reason this card was hard to photograph. It's really not that light/washed out in person. I didn't even know this frame was on GS until I read the directions! Thank you Tangee for letting me be a little Krazy! :)

Fantabulous Butterfly Gatefold

Hi all! This week at Fantabulous Cricut we were asked to make projects that were zoo/animal themed. At first I was deciding between a unicorn and dinosaur shaped card and how to make a "different" shaped card, then inspiration hit and I came up with this shaped butterfly gatefold card! Don't worry, I filmed my very first tutorial if you have any questions as to how I did it. ;) Lookie:

Tutorial: If I leave out a detail or you have a question please feel free to contact me. This is my first tutorial so please be a gentle with me. :)

First you will need to cut your pieces. I used two shadow cuts as my base layers for the card and then all of the regular cuts and layers. This butterfly was cut at 5.14 but could just as easily be cut at 5.25.

Next you will adhere a shadow and base cut together.

Then cut the two layers in half.

I freehand trimmed the inner part. If you look at the finished piece you will see that I trimmed the inner part quite a bit.

Score the second shadow piece approximately 1/2 inch in. I just lined up the cut to where the outer two scallops on the wings were going to be scored. I then folded the crease *backwards* so that my gatefold will open properly.

Adhere the two pieces together. Put glue only on the small part of the wings that are folded back.

Layer the body in the middle and trim the wings more if needed. Add the rest of the layers and decorate as desired. Easy peasy! :)

I hope I was clear in my instructions. I really enjoyed thinking outside of the box and am looking at cuts a little differently now. :)

Christmas In July

Hola friends! This week's Challenge Me Monday at Fantabulous Cricut is Christmas In July. This is officially the earliest I've ever made a Christmas card! I decided to combine two different fancy folds, the folded paper frame and easel card. I really love how it turned out! Lookie:

Beautiful is it not? ;-) This card was easy and time consuming at the same time. The easy part was cutting all of the pieces. The hard part was inking everything and waiting for the stickles and pearl pen to dry. Yes, I'm crazy and apply my pearl pen directly to my projects! It's not hard to do and I really don't like doing them ahead of time and trying to put them on later. They are just too small to mess with. You can remove them before they are completely dry if you change your mind. The little scoop tool that comes in the cricut tool kit works wonderfully for this.

French Manor Exploration

Hello! On the Cricut Circle messageboard we had a weekend challenge to use our first Circle exclusive cartridge, French Manor. This is the first time I've gotten to play with this cart as I had to wait until it was added to our gypsy libraries. I'm just too spoiled to use my Expression with out it. I used two cuts that caught my eye as I flipped through the handbook, the peacock and lattice/top note label. I'm not sure if I'm loving the combination of the two cuts but I think it's growing on me. What do you think?

Cards For Soldiers

Hi everyone! I finally got some envelopes (only 3000 of them!) and am ready to mail off a box of cards for our troops. So after putting cards in envelopes, the finally tally is 377 cards. Well, that isn't anything to be ashamed of, but I must satisfy my OCD leaning and make it an even 400. Because that's how I roll yo! Now we know what I will be working on tomorrow or tonight. On top of my next mini album for Cricut Mini Albums and my next project for Fantabulous Cricut. It's good to be busy. ;) Here is a picture of my 377 cards on my craft table. They are in stacks of 20 and the bottom left corner stack is my short one. Have a great day everyone!

Sweet Swing Top Ice Cream Card

Hi everyone! This week at Fantabulous Cricut we were asked to make a "cool treat" shaped card. Naturally I turned to Sweet Treats and had several options to choose from but eventually chose this cute ice cream cone. To shake things up a bit, I decided to make a different kind of shaped card and used the swing top idea as my card base. I also challenged myself to use more pattern paper since I tend to cut out straight card stock and embellish it from there. So I riffled through my stash of pattern paper and came upon my little 6x6 stack of SU! paper called Welcome Neighbor that just had to be used. All of the cuts except the hot fudge and base card stock are from the Welcome Neighbor stack. Even though I laid out my cuts on my Gypsy, everything was cut out at 5 1/2. My Gypsy just makes things easier to plan and cut all at once. Have I mentioned that I love my Gypsy lately? ;) So, without more blathering, here is my card:

Totally cute isn't it? I think this could be a very cute card for birthdays or even get well if some one is in the hospital and can only eat ice cream?

ETA: I have gotten a lot of questions on how I made the chocolate look so real both here on my blog and on the cricut messageboard. I used Judykins Diamond Glaze (which I don't really like. It keeps bubbling on me.) and then a second coat of Stampin' Up's Crystal Effects to try and cover up the bubbles that the Diamond Glaze left. I think one of the reason's why it looks so real is that I got lucky taking the picture. I put my camera on a tripod and hold a second Ott light over the camera and project. I just move my light around until I'm happy with the photo. I hope this helps and thanks everyone for taking the time to visit me!

Just Beachy Tri-fold Birthday

Hi everyone! For my Gyptian project at The Bug Bytes, I made my very first tri-fold card. It was very easy to do and I think it's stinking cute! I am giving this to my "mom" at my job. She takes care of everyone and don't make her mad! Lol Her birthday is tomorrow and I think she will love this card. On to the photos!

Here is my G and my paper placed on my mat. This is a fairly easy card. Nothing too fancy to cut out. I used Life is a Beach and Wild Card.

Fantabulous Cricut Debut!

Hi everyone! This is my first week in my post as a DT for Fantabulous Cricut. Our challenge was to use orange and a creepy crawlie critter. First I needed a little mojo kickstart and found a cute sketch from SCS to use. Then as I was looking for a cute creepy crawlie, I came upon this adorable little alien on Everyday Paper Dolls, whom I just had to use. I used my Gypsy to make a second layer by using the new Hide Contour feature. Once I cut it out and had it all together I was inspired to use some googlie eyes. Then of course I went overboard and added them to his belly. You know how it is when you are in the grip of the creative flow right? But I think it's just so stinking adorable! Lookie:

I know, right, Stinking Adorable!?! This is by far my favorite boy card I've ever made. Now to find a lucky little boy to give it to. Thanks for stopping by today!

Favorite Photos Mini Album

Hi everyone! Here is my second project for Cricut Mini Albums. I'm still struggling with designs but it was easier this time. Which is exactly why I wanted to be part of this blog, to stretch my creative horizons! It's doing that, let me tell you! Anyway, here is what I made. Lookie:

I know this looks simple. And it is, to a point. I used 4 cartridges on it!

Scraps Only Challenge #40

Hi everyone! After a not so great start to the week, I'm finally back crafting! I worked Monday at the Post Office and when I was just about half way done with my route, I got stung by wasps 4 times. Twice in my joint on my index finger and then twice farther down on the same finger. It was so not fun let me tell you! Please, please, please if you see wasps hanging around your mailbox; please get rid of them! Your mail person will thank you.

Anyway, on to this weeks Scraps Only challenge. The challenge this week was to use two different pattern papers. I didn't think it would be too difficult. Until I went through my scrap folder and realized that I'm getting dangerously low on scraps! What a cool feeling! That just made my day! Here are the 12 cards I whipped up using *3* different pattern papers and the SCS Clean and Simple sketch this week. Yay me!

Now that I've fulfilled my weekly Cards For Soldiers duty, it's time to play with my other challenges this week. Later!

My Father's Day Card

Hi everyone! I made this card this morning for my father. Nothing like waiting until the last minute huh? However, I seem to thrive under a bit of pressure so maybe I procrastinate on purpose? Who knows....anyway, lookie what I made:

I couldn't resist making another easel card. They are just so easy and so fun. :) I used my Pagoda cart for the first time; I've only had it for two months! But I'm not huge into the Asian theme that others are. I just dabble from time to time. I also used Storybook for the artisan labels and Wild Card for the sentiment. Can you believe I used stickles, spica glitter pens, diamond glaze and ribbon on a masculine card? I think it works. What do you think? I'm entering this card in this weeks Fantabulous Cricut challenge. Can I get Top 3 two weeks in a row? ;-)

A couple of birthday cards

Hi everyone! Yesterday was my sister in law's birthday and as one of her presents, we let her children spend the night last night. Aren't we nice? :) Here are the cards she received. I made the Hello Kitty card and I "helped"/"made" her card from her children. I also whipped up the gift card holder from Cindy Loo in a flash.

I am really loving the Hello Kitty cartridge for all of the shaped cards. They are just so stinking cute! I even bought paper specifically to use with that cartridge. Now to get cracking at making more HK cards. Later!

Inspired and lovin' it!

Hi everyone! I ran across a WONDERFUL paper pack from K & Company (which is local and love that!) called Berry Sweet. It's the first paper stack ever that I have loved every single pattern. Every.single.pattern. That does not happen, my friends! I usually get a stack that I like well enough and when I get it home, rip out all of the ugly stuff and give it to my niece. The only drawback so far is that I can only find the stack in 8.5x8.5. I found a 12x12 stack at Joann.com but it didn't have all of the patterns and their site isn't set up very well. I got so annoyed with their site that I left my order unfinished and left. So, if you see a 12x12 K & Company stack of Berry Sweet that has all 36 patterns. Let me know where, ok? ;) Anyhoo, since I love this paper so much I just had to craft with it. Here is my happy card:

I also gave my new Cindy Loo a whirl. This flower and sentiment are so pretty. The background is from Just Because Cards. I only used 3 colors of Stickles and spot of Liquid Pearls. Lol But still...pretty and happy! It just makes me smile. It will be hard to send this card off to someone let me tell you. Thanks for visiting!

Scraps Only Challenge #39

This weeks challenge was to used stripes. That was not hard for me. I love stripes! I used up two different striped paper and ended up with 13 cards. Not to shabby!

I used Sentimentals for the butterfly. Word of caution: Do no cut this butterfly smaller than 2 inches! I had a heck of a time getting the antennae to cut out.

For the party hat I used Sweet Treats. I hope it is boy-ish enough. I have a very hard time making any type of boy card. Don't we all though? Thanks for stopping in today!

Hi everyone! I found a new Cricut challenge blog to drool over, Jitterbuggin' Challenge Blog. This weeks challenge was to use the provided sketch, use a Cricut flower and complimentary colors.

I used the Paisley cartridge for all of the cuts-frog, smile and 3 layered flowers. Can you believe I also used 12 brads? I still feel like this card needs something else. However it does make me smile so maybe it should stay the way it is. Thanks for stopping by today!

I received the new Wall Decor and More cartridge today (*squeal*) and as I was looking through the handbook I came upon this fab lighthouse. I immediately thought of my great friend Bethany and decided to whip up a little home decor project for her. This is what I came up with.

I can't believe how quick and easy this was. I cut the lighthouse and it's base from Wall Decor. Next I cut the "top note" shape from Storybook out of shimmer paper. Put them all down. Added Rock Candy distress stickles to the lighthouse. Painted the frame. I was done! Easy Peasy. Thanks for looking in today!

Scraps Only Challenge #38

This week on the Cricut messageboard the Scraps Only challenge was to use yellow. Ok, that is going to be a challenge, I thought. I looked at my yellow pattern paper scraps and only had 3 different papers. All of them birthday themed. Well, guess what I made? Yup, 24 birthday themed yellow cards. Go me!

I was able to use up all of that heart/confetti paper. I noticed that the copyright on it was dated 1998. I haven't had it that long of course, but it was still nice to get it all used up.

For The Bride

I made this card for this weeks Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday-#13. The challenge was to make something For the Bride. I just had to use this beautiful dress from Tie The Knot. I cut the image from shimmer paper and sprayed it with my homemade glimmer spray but it's very hard to see in this picture. Did I go overboard with the pearls? Nah! ;)

I wish I could get the color to show better. The paper is from K & Co. and is very glittered. So hard to photograph. But it sure is pretty IRL. Thanks for stopping by today!

Nametag Goodness

Hi everyone! I made these cute critters for a waitress that is a favorite of my family. She goes out of her way to take care of our Great Aunt who lives 2 hours away from us. She also goes out of her way to embarrass my nephew as well. Gotta love that! I noticed that she decorates her name tag with stickers and such, so I decided to make her some name tag goodness. I used Create A Critter for all of the images.

She loved them and said she would wear them even if they covered up her whole name tag! She's so cute! Have a great day!

Ain't no lion....

When I saw this cute animal themed paper at M's the other day, I just knew it would work great for Create a Critter. I whipped out this card fairly quickly and meant to enter it in My Pink Stampers color challenge but I procraistinated too long. Ah well, it's still a cute card. :)

A word of caution: If you cut this lion out (Create a Critter), I would suggest that you cut the shadow out also. The mane has nothing to hold on to on the whole top half of the lion. If you have DS or Gypsy you can size the shadow to work as a base if you want. Learn from my mistake! ;)

Mother's Day Easel-The Bug Bytes DT first post!

Hi everyone! This is my first post for Pam aka The Bug Bytes as one of her designers.

I am in love with easel cards at the moment. You get such a WOW factor for so little effort. Plus it's nice for the recipient to be able to display their card easily. This is my Mother's Day card for my mother. She loves purple, bling and displaying my cards. So the easel card is a perfect fit. Without further ado, here's my card.

So, what do you think? Will my Mom like it? I think she will. At least she better after I worked on it for so long! :)

Here is how I laid it out on my 12x24 mat.

A few notes on my project:

If you will notice, I flipped the pot on the card and welded the bottom of the pot to the top of the card. I did this so that when the card was being displayed that the front and the back will match up. I cut off the excess with my craft knife. I hung the circle off of the mat so I could place the flowers without the pot in my way.

Second, I welded the flourish to the flower pot and used the positive cut as accents to the Happy Mother's Day cut. I cut the flourish into three pieces.

Third, I cut the leaves in half and drew veins on them with my Versamark pen. Then after attaching them I gently curved the leaves out for dimension.

Ink: Milled Lavender Distress Ink
Misc: ATG gun, Scrappy glue, foam tape, lavender skittles, SU! Scallop Lace border punch, Lavender and Diamond Stickles

Birthday Easel Card

Hi everyone! I have been challenging myself to make birthday cards for my extended family. I'm about 50% successful right now. But, hey, I'm trying! :) So, I was deciding what kind of card to make for an aunt by browsing the cricut board. I decided to finally give in and make an easel card. They are super easy to make and look pretty nifty.

As a bonus I was able to participate in this weeks Gypsy Board challenge, Get Real. We had to use the real dial feature and unlock the aspect ratio. Since the original cut is rectangular, I used the real dial feature and made it square. This card was very quick to make. I spent longer putting on all those pearls than I did designing and cutting my card!

I think I'm going to cut a bunch of these and leave them blank. This style and cut can be used for so many occasions. Thanks for stopping by today!

Scraps Challenge and Mirror Challenge

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on the cricut messageboards lately and have been inspired to participate in a few challenges. This card combines the Scraps Only Challenge #34 and the Gypsy Challenge "Mirror Mirror". I am so so so loving my G. It's been fantastic to be able to use scraps and use them frugally. So far in the almost two weeks I've had my G, I've created 7 cards out of scraps. Love it! Anyway, enough blathering, here is my card.

Cute right? This entire card is made out of scraps! The scraps challenge was to use pink. For my mirror, mirror part I used a shape on Gypsy Wanderings (the scallop ended rectangle) and mirrored, flipped and welded the image to made this shaped card. I think it's pretty darn cute! Bonus: This project was the first time that I placed my paper on the mat correctly and had all of my cuts come out the first time. Yay!

Cartridge Exploration Challenge-4/18

The idea is to use the selected cartridge as much as possible and create a project. I love this cute turtle and made a card featuring it. My creative touch was to use a blackout cut of a flower as clouds. I think this will be a cute birthday card for someone!

Pink Stamper Sunday Challenge

Hi everyone! I had to participate in Robyn's challenge this today. The challenge was to use your Cricut and the colors pink, green and black. Since I am loving my new Gypsy and recently bought a couple of new carts, I got right to work. I used the Just Because Cards cartridge for the first time. Too cute! Going right into my favorite list I can tell you. Look at what cuteness I came up with:

Cute, right? Doesn't it just make you smile? I love these bright colors and I don't think I would have used green if I had not been challenged. So, yay, for personal crafting growth! Lol.

The only thing I did different was to cut the green layer into two pieces and use one on the inside of my card. It is designed to wrap around the card but I was being frugal and didn't want to cut another piece of cardstock for my inside layer. I think I'm going to have to have another go with this cartridge, it's calling my name! Later!

I got a Gypsy!

I didn't think I would want a Gypsy but I got tired of guessing on paper sizes and wasting paper. Besides I got it crazy cheap on Ebay so I'm pretty pleased. It's really very easy to use and I've already got several projects designed and stored on it. I like it much much better than Design Studio. Anyway, enough chatter, here is my first Gypsy project. *ta da*

I didn't do anything groundbreaking but I did use two carts (Wild Card and Gypsy Wanderings) and cut it all out on one mat. I'm pleased for a first attempt. I'm off to design some more. That Gypsy is addictive! Later!

A quick birthday card

Hi everyone! I knew my dad's birthday was coming up this month but the actual day snuck up on me! Of course I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I've been working like crazy for the post office. ;) This is one of those cards that do not end up at all like what you pictured in your mind. However, I've learned to go with the flow and be proud of what I made. My dad loves everything I make so he is easy to make happy. I'm sure the ticket to Jeff Dunham's new show in August had something do with that happiness, or maybe it was this card. Who can tell? (giggle)

Oh Snap!

Hello! I have been loving my new library card these past two months. I get to indulge in my passion for reading and it's free! What could be better than that? Happy Heart Day!

Hi! Just dropping by to share the items I made for my sweetie for Valentines Day. We decided to make gifts for each other instead of buying them. Which is what I had planned on doing anyway. I was anxious to see what my sweetie would come up with though! I think that is the subject of another post. ;)

For the accordian album, I channeled my inner Cathy Zielske and made it clean and simple. Even though I used pink and red I kept it fairly neutral by adding kraft and black since it was for my sweetie. My brilliant (if I say so myself) idea was to punch a heart in the hidden journaling tabs and insert pink cardstock. I even added two colors of Glimmer Mist and used some Crystal Effects. My sweetie loved it and promptly put it on his mantle.

For the card, I cased it almost completely from iStamp. Again, I used pink and red but I think it was still masculine enough in the end. My sweetie placed his card on top of the refrigerator so he could see it every morning. Isn't he the best?

One of my new projects this year was to fill out a perpetual birthday calendar for my family and friends. Thanks to my BFF Bethany for printing out my new calendar! This is a birthday card for my aunt Kathleen. She got to be the first person to benefit from this new calendar system of mine. I like the idea of sending handmade cards to let family members and friends know that I'm thinking about them. I know it put a smile on my aunt's face! I cased this card from someone but I can not remember who. :( Rest assured that my version does not do the original justice.

Raspberry Cricut Mojolicious Cardz Challenge Card

How is that for a title? I am posting my first ever Mojo Monday challenge card. I also made this card work for two other challenges. The Raspberry Suite Color Challenge and the Cricut Cardz Challenge. I'm still not sure if I love this card. Is it ok to love the elements but not the whole? Something feels off but I can't put my finger on it. I've fiddled with it long enough and if I do any more I might ruin it. So....here it is! *vanna white hand motion*

The Cricut Cardz Challenge was to make a Thank You card with any cut you like. I chose the Chandelier from Home Decor. Cut at 2 3/4. I then cut the shadow and put Crystal Effects on top of the image.

The Raspberry Suite Color Challenge colors were light yellow, light aqua blue, chocolate and vanilla. I used Bordering Blue, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. P.S.-Loving my new Martha Stewart Lattice Punch. :)

I used my Scor-Pal and scored horizontal lines on the Chocolate Chip card stock. I had a heck of a time trying to get them photographed. Anyone have any hints?

Her birthday was on Sunday the 15th and I didn't realize my error until the 17th! I'm such a bad person, I tell ya. Luckily for me, Bethany had her second baby girl on the 8th so she was a little too preoccupied to notice much. :) I of course had to go all out when I made her card this year. Rich Razzleberry Bday Card

Hi everyone! I'm finally with a steady (for now) internet connection. Yay! So I thought I would share the birthday card I made for my mother, who's birthday was the 6th. This is an almost exact copy of a card by Julie Dinn. I had it stashed in my card inspiration folder. My mother's favorite color is purple so of course I had to use Rich Razzleberry. It's so yummy! I don't have the Bride Specialty paper and didn't really like that it looked like white swirls and the cardstock was silver. Soooo, I made my own specialty cardstock. And now it all matches, silver and rich razzleberry. TFL!

Hello everyone! Been a busy couple of weeks for me. Mostly because last week was my birthday week. Yes, week. I celebrate all week long! So after the celebrations have died down it was time to do a bit of stamping, plus I am all inspired after going to the CK convention this last weekend. Expressionistic Watercolor

Hello everyone! After my busy weekend I finally got to sit down and stamp today. Yay! I browsed my Technique Junkie cds until I found the next technique to call my name. It was Expressionistic Watercolor. It's a very easy technique that can be adapted for many styles. After my first run through using water, I decided to try Glimmer Mist in Pearl to see what that would look like. It was beautiful! So after a few more tries this is what I came up with. Lookie:

Ever had a card that you finished but every time you looked at "something" bothered you about it? That's what happened to me with my card from yesterday. It was cute and I loved the technique but it wasn't quite right. It wasn't until I posted it here and saw it on my blog that it hit me, what was wrong. The pumpkin just didn't work. It wasn't ugly or anything, he just wasn't what was needed for the card. So, I decided to go with the spider and his web. Even then, I messed up the first try and it was...illogical. Ok, so I'm really excited that I finally started trying some of the techniques that are featured on the TJ newsletter. It has really got me excited again about crafting in general. Case in point. I've made 4 cards in the last 24 hours. I can't stop! On to the next card, the technique is called Crumpled Resist and it's very fun. I pulled out this Halloween set that I've had for over a year and have never inked up. Bad stamper! I know! But I broke it in right this afternoon. Lookie:

Another TJ Card

Hello stampers! After I posted my first TJ card to the TJ list I got a huge outpour of support from those fabulous ladies! They truly made me feel welcome. The side effect is now I think I'm turning into a TJ monster! I made another card before the family came to dinner tonight. I was literally stamping and glueing as my niece and nephew were knocking on my door. But it's all worth it right? Lookie what I did:

This technique is called Embossed Pastels. I had to try it because I don't use my SU chalks near enough. While I'm not thrilled with this card, I don't hate it either. I do love how my elephants look camoed. I will have to remember that when I make something for my nephew TJ. If you ask him what his favorite color is, his answer is camoflage. I know, I know....I didn't keep up with my craft a day in September challenge. In my defense I went out of town, had visiting friends and relatives after being out of town and didn't feel so hot after they left. Anyway, I have crafted a little bit. Lookie:

This is the first aid station at CCCKC. I used my cricut and black vinyl to spruce it up a bit as it was a little ghetto fabulous with the painter's tape before. I'm not really happy with the result but it's still better than the blue tape job. Maybe next time I'm down there inspiration will hit and I will make the first aid station first rate! Hehehe, I'll quit while I'm ahead. Goodnight!

Whoohoo! I made it to Day 3 of the Craft A Day September Challenge! Aren't you proud of me? Hehehe. I made this layout out of a scrapbook kit featuring Tinkerbell. I've had this kit for about 2 years, so I figured it was high time I did something with it. I'm not sure if I love it yet but I am happy to have another layout finished. So it's all good right? Lookie:
I do have to brag a little bit. This is the first time I've done anything that would be considered digital on a layout. I printed up a journaling block and used reverse type as well! Thank goodness Cathy Zielske showed how to do it on a Creating Keepsakes DVD. I feel like a total pro now. LOL Now it is time to sleep. Night!

I LOVE One Sheet Wonders!

Hey everyone! How's it going? Things are just dandy here. Today I am going to show you some One Sheet Wonders I've made. I have fallen in love with One Sheet Wonders. If you don't know what I'm talking about OSW are a template for cutting up pattern paper to make cards. The one I've been using recently is the Verve 6x6 OSW from a couple of years ago. This OSW makes 4 cards out of one sheet of 6x6 pattern paper, with no left over paper. Don't you love it? However, I stretched this template into 6 cards. Meaning I can get 24 cards out of one sheet of 12x12 pattern paper. Which is awesome when you make as many cards as I do for our troops. Here is an example of just one of the batches of OSW I've made recently.

As you can tell, I do have to fancy up the cards a bit. I really don't like leaving pattern paper unmatted. Besides the way I figure it, the more paper and cardstock I use the more I get to buy later!

My Cubicle

I've recently discovered (actually rediscovered...appreciate better now) a new scrapbooking guru for myself. I'm sure many of you know her name already but I adore everything Cathy Zielske does! Her clean graphic style draws me. I've discovered in my sophomore year of scrapbooking that I prefer clean lines and linear layouts. I detest the trend of throwing as much product (ie..crap) as you can fit on a layout and call it good. It's about the pictures and stories, not the product! So here is a very quick layout I made for my 1st day of the Craft A Day September Challenge.

I took this picture with my phone the day my mail van broke down on the route a couple of weeks ago. My caption at the time had something to do about the fuel pump and waiting for the calvary to come and help me. Not a happy memory to be sure. However, I have noticed that in my circle of friends and acquaintances many people work in cubicles. Every time I see a picture of a friend in a cubicle, I shudder. I could not imagine being cooped up in a windowless prison all day long. This made me realize that I very grateful to have never had a job where I've been subject to this torture. Hence the birth of this layout....my cubicle. I love it. Dust, bugs, dogs, rain, heat, snow, ice and all. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Powell Gardens Mini Album

I took my niece and nephew to Powell Gardens in late April to see the tulips in bloom as they are my favorite flowers. This is the result. I hope you like it!

New Stamps!

So, I had to cheat on SU for a bit. After I attended Michelle Zindorf's workshops I just had to buy more ISC stamps! How can I not support a single mom who makes stamps in her living room? Besides, they are awesome stamps! Here is what they looked like when I got them.

Michelle gave us a nice tip for unmounted stamps. Aleene's Tack It Over and Over glue! Just put a thin layer on the back of your cut out image and let it dry. Michelle says that you can get 50 uses out of one application. A little goes a long way too! However, after I got them all cut out and glued I had a conundrum. How should I store them? They didn't come with any storage options. Just a printed image that was on copy paper. Are you ready for my brainwave? Lookie:

I laminated the printed image sheet! So now my stamps are stored on the image sheet itself and they fit perfectly in my stamp expandable file. I love it when a plan comes together.

Presence of Trees

Now before you start proclaiming me to be some master of the brayer or something, I must tell you, that this is an almost exact copy of Michelle Zindorf's card. The only difference is I used a different color of dark blue (Pacific Point) and I punched my holes differently. That's it.

However, I love this card. I worked on it over two sessions and had,I think, 6 or 7 fails before I finally got it right. Michelle makes it look so easy! I guess that's why she's the queen. Anywho, I must start getting ready to go see Bethany for our Tuesday Scrappin' Playdate!

Protecting the Herd

This is my first Zindorf style card. I was shopping with my dear friend Bethany the other day and ran across this great set of horse stamps at Michael's. These were the perfect type of stamps for brayer cards. Not cutesy but realistic looking. I chose this horse because he reminds me of my horse and his posture reminds me of a stallion looking out for his herd.

Not too bad for a first time making this type of card by myself, if I do say so myself. :)

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted anything. Sorry about that. The list of reasons is long and mostly relevant. However, I know how you feel. Something like this perhaps?

So here goes, I attended a Michelle Zindorf Beginner Brayer class and Advanced Brayer class earlier this month in Columbia, MO. (Yes I drove back and forth for two days, it was worth it!) She's fabulous! She also worked our tushies off! Here are the cards I made in the Beginner class. Starting with my first card....I get better with more practice.

Learning to how to control the brayer without controlling the brayer is the hard part. And going fast. The faster you go the better your results. Weird huh? Next we have my favorite card of the Beginner class.

I love this card for the color and the simplicity. Michelle gave us this card to make so we would learn how to get color all the way down the card. Lots and lots of going over the card. The cardstock gets soaked in ink. :)

The final card of the day. As you can tell I'm getting better blending colors already.

I had to take a picture of my inky fingers after this class. I've never sponged with black ink before. Talk about out of my comfort zone!

I then headed home to meet up with my brother and wife for some night geocaching. However we didn't end up doing much because his wife couldn't go and my bro had the kids. So we went to the 2600 meeting, had dinner and then found a couple of caches and our first real letterbox. After that it was time for bed as I had another full day tomorrow.

Here are the cards we made in the Advanced Brayer class. More layers of ink and lots of masking going on. Of course we can't forget all the embossing either. Lots of work but gorgeous cards.

As you can tell this card is anything but simple. Quite ironic that we stamped "simplify" isn't it? The house was stamped first and heat embossed. Then we colored over it with Versamark and embossed it two more times. So we embossed that house 3 times. And that was just the first step! I'm sure you get the picture. As you can see from my crooked stamping and oh so lovely masking that my mojo was not working that day. For some reason I just didn't have the same flow as the day before. Perhaps it was staying up until 2am....yeah that's my story.

On the the second disaster...er card.

I didn't finish putting this card together because I messed it up so bad. I stamped my white flowers upside down. However, I wasn't alone. My table partner did the same thing. The upshot was that I won the example that Michelle makes with us to show us the steps and what the results should be. Here is her card front.

As you can see, Michelle stamped her images correctly. Other than that, I'm pretty proud of the fact that my color and shading are pretty close to hers. On the last card of the day!

If you follow Michelle at all you know she loves to emboss and emboss resist. These trees are gorgeous and lots of work. We inked them with three different ink pads, not markers! It was like marker thumping without the marker. Then of course we embossed each tree as we stamped it. Very pretty and as Michelle says, this would be lovely in fall colors. That's it. Lots of driving and geocaching on the way home, but like I said, well worth the money and the time.

Hi everyone! Aren't these cards so cute? I have no idea how many I made. I was just bopping along making cards. Don't you love the old man in the last card? He's from the new Golden Oldies SU set in the Occassions mini, which went live on the 1st. All three of those stamps in that set crack me up! Which is why I bought them. Never can laugh enough I say.

I would also like to point out the Mother's Day card and thank cinus from CCCKC who helped me make them. He needed to take a break from programming the server in the cave and sat down and helped me make 24 of those cards. He put the flowers on and stamped the sentiment while I adhered the paper down. Not bad for a 22 y/o hacker who has never made a card before eh? Thanks cinus!

Fifth Avenue Floral and C&C 160

This is my first effort with the Fifth Avenue Floral set. It's so pretty and sophisticated. I did a lot more work to the rose than it looks. I watercolored it with my aquapainter and Basic Gray ink but the CS seemed to absorb the ink and not really show much. Either way. Still a pretty flower! TFL!

I got to use the Sale-a-bration paper, Delicate Dots with the SAB Certainly Celery twill riboon. Love it! I also used my all time favorite product, Heat and Stick Powder! Hi everyone! Here is my submission for a Sense of Humor Card Swap on SCS. I used the new SU set That's Funny. This stamp was the reason why I bought the set. I cracked up when I saw it and I chuckled while I made the card. Reason enough to own it right? I hope my fellow swappers enjoy it!

I'm sure you can tell by my favorite blogs that I stalk that I hop around quite a bit everyday. Well, on my fav blogs I see frequent mentions of a group called Control Freaks Swappers. It seems from what I can gather of this secret society that you have to be asked to join. So I'm wondering if there is a place you can submit some samples so you might get asked? I've googled them, yahooed them, searched the SCS forums and I can't find any link to a site for this group. Does anyone out there know what I need to do, if there is anything I can do, to get more information about this group? TIA for information ladies!

Elegant Valentine's Card

Hi everyone! Don't you just love this striking card? It was an almost complete case from here. At first I wasn't so sure about the new Rockabilly DSP but this card sold me and now that I've played with it, I love it! I also got to use Heat & Stick powder for the first time. I used it on the hearts and instead of embossing them I poured the black Cosmo glitter on them. Very sparkly! My other new toys and goodies were the Eyelet Border punch, Hodge Podge hardware for the ribbon slide and the new yummy ribbon from the Valet Ribbon Originals pack. It's basically a velvet grosgrain ribbon. My friend Jill let me borrow her Always set as I hadn't decided if I needed it yet. Now I'm going to have to get it. Thanks for looking!

Organizing Groove

Hey everyone! Just thought I would show a bit of the organizing I've been doing. I bought a new label maker as my old one finally died and I went a little crazy labeling everthing. Any one remember the Friends episode where Monica said, "Eight hours spent with my label maker and file folders is not wasted time!" LOL I had to find a way to store my punches in my very limited craft area. These cafe curtain rods are behind the door to my room. The other picture is obviously my SU! stamp collection. I've only got 36 sets. Yet somehow I think I still need some more. Isn't that always the case?

PCP Swappin' Scraps~Recipe Swap #1

This is what I came up with for Sara's recipe swap on Papercraft Planet. After we are done with the 4 swaps we will have a beautiful cookbook. This first swap was a baked/dessert swap. It didn't have to be monochromatic. That's just what I ended up doing. To make up for the color scheme I tried to put a lot of detail on it. I paper pierced both edges of the pattern paper. The top line follows the straight edges and the bottom line follows the scallops. For the scallops I created the glossy finish with 3 coats of UTEE. The pocket was created using the Folder Inking technique and my cuttlebug. All the stamping is embossed and to finish I inked every edge of this paper. Thanks for looking!

Hi everyone! Here are the last pictures of my most recent Cards For Soldiers commitment. I ended up making 105 cards. I am truly loving my Sheet Load of Cards ezine. It has made my life so much easier. I have realized that I am not the kind of person who loves designing cards and layouts and sketches. I love the creating not the dreaming. As you can tell I've been having fun putting rubons on my possessions. My planner was quite plain and I could never tell which was the front or back. Rubons to the rescue! Then I purchased 3 stainless steel water bottles for me and my parents and of course had to spruce mine up a bit. Who doesn't want flowers and butterflies on their water bottles? Don't you just love Stampin' Up! rubons? Now I'm off to my nephew's 3rd birthday party and I'm bringing the Dirt and Worm cake. Wheee! :D

What does this card need? I'm still not loving this card and I've stared at it for way too long. I like the Sweet Stems stamp set so that's not it. I like the combination of So Saffron and Perfect Plum so again that's not it. Don't you just hate when you card doesn't seem finished? Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi everyone! A few cards to share today. Not sure why my camera date stamp says 2012...just noticed that. Sigh. Anyway, I went to my friend Jill's Creative College yesterday and got to play. She had a card kit for five blue jean themed thank you cards which I made first and then the St. Paddy's day and Have I told you cards I made afterwards. I'm pretty pleased, I was able to make 35 cards that day for our troops. Only 65 more to go!

CFS Valentine's Cards

A few pictures of the 40 cards I made for our troops over the past couple of days. I'm really making an effort to use my stash before I buy more Stampin' Up supplies. It's really hard to resist but the new catalog is coming out on the 19th and I need to make room in my craft room! One of the interesting things I discovered while making these cards was that I am now spoiled from using my SU! products the last couple of months. There is no guess work in matching colors and patterns, or ink and stamps or embellies. I could have made twice as many cards but I had to spend SO much time looking for matching paper and CS. It was a royal pain! All the more incentive to use my stash! Now I have to make 100 "spring" cards for our troops, ie St. Patricks Day, Easter. All the more stash I get to use and all the more new SU products I get to buy and all the more cards our soldiers get to send home. See, it's all good for everyone. LOL

Look Who's Turning 30!

I so can not believe that my little brother is turning 30 on Friday! Not that I'm so very old myself, 31. But still, my *little* brother. Ok I'm done...on to the card.

Again, I just had to use Mr. Crabby Pants or as my father says "Mr. Damp Pants"...he's so weird. Pulled out the bright and happy Rainbow Sherbert DSP and went to work. I'm pretty pleased even if I do feel a little bit old...LOL
